I am a freelance Filmmaker and Video Editor based in London with more than 20 years’ experience working internationally in artistic environments. I am the funder of MASTIL PRODUCTIONS LTD and I direct, produce, shoot and edit videos for a wide variety of stakeholders from different sectors, as well as deliver workshops for both young people and adults.
My work approach, whether writing a script, filming or leading the post-production stage, is to capture the specific feelings and visions that clients wish to transmit to engage the audience. I have participated in the production of documentaries, commercials, fashion films, short films, promotional videos and the creation of social media content. I started my career in Havana working as an illustrator for different magazines and national newspapers. My experience drawing caricatures gave me the opportunity to work as an animator for the ICAIC (Cuban Institute for Art and Cinema Industry). When I moved to Berlin in 2007, I started to coach people, helping them to find their passion in life and their desired job. This brought to my attention the common gap that exists in most people and their own potential. That's how I decided to work on filmmaking, since I found that there is a fascinating power in people's stories. This also inspired my first short stories book "Imágenes y Figuras" published in 2018 by the publishing house Iliada Ediciones.
Living in London since January 2020 has been a major change for me and my career, as personally this is one of the most easy-going places I've ever been, despite being one of the most populated cities around the world, where you can find over 300 different languages. I am fluent in Spanish (mother tongue), English, Portuguese and German.
Diversity has been a source of inspiration to my work as a filmmaker, keeping me busy during the last years working on great projects and learning more about culture, art and social development. My intention for the future is to continue improving people's lives through my work as a filmmaker.
